In the heart of the 'Cité des Papes'
Knows as the Pope's city because of the presence of the popes from 1309 to 1423, it is now the largest city and the capital of the Vaucluse area. It is one of the rare French cities to have preserved its city walls and its historical center. It has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
In front of the hotel there is the Palais des Papes: it's the largest gothic palace in the world.
A maker testament to the history of Avignon, the Saint-Benezet bridge strted being build in the XII century, then was swpet away by the Rhone before being reconstructed and finally in its current state in the XVII century.
